Surgeons who played video games completed a drill that tested their skills much faster on their first try and during all ten attempts than those who did not play video games.

On the other hand, The University of Toronto found that people who play AAA video games like Assassin’s Creed often have better sensorimotor skills than those who do not play.

These skills are important for quickly learning and effectively doing tasks that require hand-eye coordination.

Video Games Enhance Problem-Solving and Increase Brain’s Gray Matter

The American Psychological Association has noted that children and adolescents who play strategic video games, such as role-playing games, tend to see improvements in both their problem-solving abilities and school grades. 

Also, researchers from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Macquarie University in Sydney used functional MRI scans to analyze the brains of 27 gamers.

The study found that specific areas of the insular cortex showed stronger connections with each other. 

Additionally, there was an increase in the thickness, surface area, and volume of grey matter in these areas.

Gray matter helps control muscles, store memories, and understand what we see. It also plays a role in how we find our way around.

Interestingly, according to the same study, people with depression who play video games moderately have lower rates of depressive moods compared to those who never play.
